Positive Living
The popular "Positive Living" series is offered repeatedly throughout the year. This four week series of classes is designed for people living with HIV. Recently diagnosed people and long-term survivors alike can gain useful knowledge and information while sharing experiences in a safe space. The focus is on immune system health with a special emphasis on sexual health, social support and local resources. Topics include nutrition, communication skills, doctor/patient relationships, stress, depression, balanced living, exercise, HIV knowledge, and much more. Pre-registration is required for this class.
"With our 'Positive Living' course, we hope to help participants keep their immune systems healthy and live positively by presenting a series of informative and interactive workshops," said Rick Braatz, The Center's Positive Action coordinator. " The course focuses on immune system health with an emphasis on sexual and mental health, social support and local resources. All people living with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS are invited to participate. This includes people who are in a relationship with a person living with HIV/AIDS, even if they themselves are not HIV positive."
The popular "Positive Living" series is offered repeatedly throughout the year and is run by experienced peer facilitators and features guest speakers. It is especially helpful for recently diagnosed people: they can ask questions and share experiences in a safe and supportive space.
The next course will be offered starting June 17 from 7pm-9pm.
